Watch it grow from a seed
Then get blown by the breeze
They just fall to their knees
Piling up with the leaves
Taking the sunlight,
Resisting the heat
The sands of time
Are the dust in the streets
Moving as one
But they’re incomplete
I will scream your name
But I’m lost in rain
All these clouds won’t fade
Cemented, solemn, and still
Their shadows sink to reveal
Nothing in poetry’s real
Try to fill the void
Words turn to noise
When we never got a choice
Outside, it’s raining
Hope you don’t
mind how long you’ve been waiting
Soon those days will come
When you know where to run
But it’s cold outside,
Just habitually waiting
The stars won’t align,
Getting comfortable waiting
Never rained tonight,
It’s always been hailing
Those moonlit eyes
Ever so paling
I will scream your name
But I’m lost in rain
All these clouds won’t fade
Stuck inside a haze
Where the weather won’t change
Could this be fate?

Won’t forget
One step ahead
Running forward
It pulls you back in
What you get
Try to regret it
When it’s over
You get pulled back in
One step next
Took no rest
One deep breath
What else left
Followed steps
Secrets kept
Unpaid debt
Pose as threats

Words I would’ve spoke
Songs I should’ve wrote
Throw it on a note
Couldn’t check the post
Something in the air
Did you even care?
Clearly unaware
I was even there
Keep it in my thoughts
Throat was in a knot
I didn’t expect
You to play along
Every time we met
Thought it wouldn’t end
Both lips on your neck
Felt it coming next
I kept rushing in
Never could reach you
Over the limit
Signs that I sped through
Now you live with him,
But next time that I
See you
I won’t remember-
Shifting focus on
Day from dusk to dawn
Where it could belong
Memories were lost
Slowly trailing off
I was backing up
Took a step too far
Letting out a laugh
Was taken aback
All the words you speak
Put me in a trance
Try to reconnect
Should’ve never left
Take in one deep breath
Feel it coming next
I kept rushing in
Never could reach you
Over the limit
Signs that I sped through
Now you live with him,
But next time that I
See you
I won’t remember-
What else could I do?
Wish I could’ve knew
Running to my room
We were one, not two
Keep it in my thoughts
Throat was in a knot
I didn’t expect
You to play along
Every time we met
Thought it wouldn’t end
Both lips on your neck
Felt it coming next
Letting out a laugh
Was taken aback
All the words you speak
Put me in a trance
Try to reconnect
Should’ve never left
Take in one deep breath
Feel it coming next
I kept rushing in
Never could reach you
Over the limit
Signs that I sped through
Now you live with him,
But next time that I
See you
I won’t remember-
What else could I do?
Wish I could’ve knew
Running to my room
We were one, not two

Short of breath, behind closed eyes
No expecting any calm tonight
Refusing peace with your mind
Couldn’t see
my foggy memories control me
Losing sleep and
wasting hours ruminating
Skipping meals,
I thought this would last for just a week
This new prescription has left me feeling empty
Soon you’ll weave
a web of your insecurities
Never treat
your friends like they could be family
What could I have done if I had better timing?
Who are you when you have lost your mentality?
Felt myself lose my own soul, oh
Everyday regain control, oh
Perspective changing as the years go on
No longer focusing on righting wrongs
All that matters now is moving on
Meet me at
my favorite beach in Encinitas
Right before the sunrise,
we can skip the people
Feel the freezing ocean
brush against our ankles
For just a moment so we feel somewhat stable
Think about regrets
and when I should’ve said, “No”
Realize everything I can
and cannot control
See my friends and family from
a different angle
For just a moment so I feel somewhat stable
Felt myself lose my own soul, oh
Everyday regain control, oh
